Odds and Ends From Seat 27C

As I'm writing this, people continue to stream onto the Boeing 757 that promises to lift me out of San Antonio and return me home. Already, I've reconnected with like-minded souls from AAD 08 -- a few dermatologists and aetheticians whom I met at the meeting are also guests on my United Airlines flight back to Los Angeles. What did those folks take away from this winter's meeting?

AAD 08: The Sequel... a Pre-Bowl Exodus

Around 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, there seemed to be fewers doctors and conventioneers clogging the aisles at the Gonzalez Convention Center. Elizabeth from the Kestrel Publishing booth at the show, said it best: The doctors have clogged the nearest downtown San Antonio bars, where they can watch the Super Bowl.

Too true. However, prior to that time, the AAD Day 2 festivities were a slam-dunk (if I can be allowed to mix my metaphors). I was careening from one booth to the next, looking for the "next great thing" in dermatology to jump out at me, grab me by the lapels, and scream, "I'm it!" I don't know that I found anything that blew me away today, but there is much to see at this meeting.

AAD Day 1: Hustle and Bustle

Of the many trade shows and conferences I've attended over the last 20 years, the 2008 AAD meeting has been one of the most action-packed and interesting. I'm not a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon, and I don't have medical training, but I know an active, upbeat, and friendly exhibition hall when I see one. And that is how I see the haps at the Gonzalez Convention Center in downtown San Antonio. Of the many exhibits I visited on my first day at the AAD, a few companies and products stood out:
