Allergan Spent $410,000 on Lobbyists in Q1

Allergan Inc spent $410,000 lobbying in the first quarter, according to a recent disclosure form.

The Irvine, Calif-based company lobbied on research and development tax credits and a bill designed to speed the FDA's approval of generic versions of biotech drugs, according to the form filed April 21 with the House clerk's office.

Generic drug companies already market cheaper versions of simpler, chemical drugs, but the FDA does not have the authority to approve generic biotech drugs.

Efforts to pass a generic biotech bill broke down last year over disagreements on how long biotech drugs should be on the market before they have to compete with cheaper copies.
